Thanks, Preethi. I have tried this recipe using Salmon, King Fish, Seer Fish, Malabar Travelly. It came out great with these. Check out cocum here:http://blog.sigsiv.com/2008.... I will add an image too. Soak cocum in 4-5 tbsp of lukewarm water. And later use that water in the curry. The authentic curry has cocum. Tamarind can be a substitute. I haven't tried with tamarind, though. But it should work out. It is a good alternative since it gives the sourness to the curry. If you want to use tamarind, soak tamarind in 4-5 tbsp lukewarm water. Squeeze out water and then add water to the curry as per your taste :)
The way I learned it was without the tadka but I'll try this next time round. When I find a claypot here in Pune!
